Miss Vermont Pageant

FRIDAY

I am in Vermont this weekend as a judge for the Miss Vermont and Vermont's Outstanding Teen Pageants!!!!

I had a LONG ride to get here, but I made it in one piece :-)
I laughed when I chose to get off the highway in New York and realized that I chose the exit where Orange County Choppers is located. It was neat to see in person what my husband and I watch on television.

The judges are fantastic and the staff is even more incredible. The icing on the cake is the contestants. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed getting to know each of them today. Parents, families, and friends should be proud of ALL of them.

Megan (Miss VT 2005 and Judge's Chair) snapped a photo of us today before the teen interviews began.

SATURDAY

Vermont's Outstanding Teen Pageant
We started off the day with a nice brunch before the pageant. Congratulations to Sarah Crampton - Vermont's Outstanding Teen. All of the contestants were incredible. There must be some very, very proud parents. I was impressed with every teen that I met and REALLY ENJOYED meeting all of them.

The exact same applies to the Miss Pageant.  Vermont has to be one incredible state based upon the ladies that I had the privilege to meet through this pageant!

Congratulations to all!!

Sunday - Traveling home and enjoying a few stops with Miss Delaware (Heather Lehman) and her mom, Martha.

We visited Dankin Farm store and bought some delicious (and fattening) foods. We stopped at Crown Point to check out the lighthouse and enjoyed our off the beaten path excursion!

B+ Foundation 5K Run/Walk

On June 18th, I enjoyed another rainy walk to benefit the B+ Foundation. My walking mates, Kathleen and Lynn, were terrific (I think I laughed most of the walk!). It was a special honor to reward the true heros at the conclusion of the walk by awarding medals to children with cancer and their siblings.

Our Pets

On Saturday, before I left for the Miss Delaware, and in the midst of rain, Hubby and I took some photos with our three dogs, Loki (9 years), Egg (12 years), and Rocco (almost 1). Needless to say, getting all three dogs (ROCCO) to remain still in a sit for a photograph was quite a task - thank goodness for Hubby and his dog training skills!!!

Loki is a retired search and rescue dog and Rocco is being trained for search and rescue work.

Interviews and Appearances

On June 10, 2009, it was a whirlwind day for both myself and the Executive Director, Janine Howard-O'Rangers, of Delaware Volunteer Legal Services (DVLS). We started the night before by traveling to Salisbury, MD for an overnight stay at a hotel. The next morning, Janine appeared on Comcast Local Edition! Janine had the opportunity to promote the services of DVLS - including the Delaware Civil Clinic (where students represent victims of domestic violence in Family Court - the whole reason that I decided to become a family law attorney), the Legal Help Link (call us and we can refer you to a lawyer), and our Pro Bono Celebration 5K on November 1, 2009.

DVLS gives MANY SPECIAL THANKS to Siouxzan Moore for arranging the Comcast Local Edition Interview!

That afternoon, I was interviewed on the Tim Qualls Show!!!! I had so much fun and really enjoyed working with Tim and his staff!

On June 12, 2009, I was invited to sing the National Anthem for the Central Delaware Relay for Life event at Delaware State University. Catherine Simon, Mrs. Central Delaware 2009, coordinated the entire event!!!! Catherine is - to say the least - one impressive and beautiful lady!!!!
I also really enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time with Maurene Bullock and her daughter! Delaware is truly blessed with some fantastic and incredible women.

Emceeing NES Mid-Atlantic Pageants

It was wonderful to emcee the NES Mid-Atlantic Pageant! Karen and David run a wonderful pageant. While watching the contestants compete, I really was reminded of all of the positive aspects of pageantry! These young girls enjoyed themselves while learning to perform with poise and grace.

Congratulations to all the winners!!!

Ryann, Cassie, and Pebbles - I am so glad that I got a chance to chat with the three of you! I look forward to meeting and chatting with more of you at the next pageant!

Congratulations to Becca for getting accepted to Milton Hershey School! I still remember the incredible essay that you wrote to become accepted! You are going to be a terrific asset to the school!!!!

Thank you also to the judges for having me join them during a wonderful lunch - Linda, Christine, and J. Nelson were great conversationalists!

Good Luck to Rebecca - you will shine at Miss PA OT!!! Enjoy every moment!!!!

Thank you - of course - to Miss Grace for yet another makeup lesson and makeup application!!!!! I will always admire you - you are a wonderful wife, mother, and businesswoman! You truly have it all!
