Midatlantic Food and Wine Festival

My boss, Denise Nordheimer, my mom and I had a great time visiting the Midatlantic Food and Wine Festival in Rodney Square in Wilmington, DE.

This incredible event benefits numerous worthy charities, including the Delaware Grand Opera House (where Denise and her husband are trustees).

Master Chef Season 2 Winner, Jenny Behm-Lazzarini, was the co-emcee for the event.  Jennifer sold my house in West Grove, PA in the midst of the Master Chef show.  She was in the top ten finalist when my former home sold (so we had a great time chatting with her at the closing table).

Before the event, I showed my mom the new law office.  Denise has fantastic taste, just like my mom and picked a beautiful new location for the law office.  She surprised me by having my name put on the door!!

New Castle County Courthouse

Photo: Joseph Kaczmarek

I volunteered with Delaware Volunteer Legal Services on Friday, February 15, 2013.  It was my first time inside the courthouse after the shooting (to be clear; I was not at court on the day of the shooting).  A fellow attorney and I arrived at Court together.  The first thing we did was sign the "Thank You Capitol Police" sign immediately after going through security.

There were lots of hugs and lots of emotions.  I was thankful that those I work with are okay (Family Court Judges, Commissioners, and Staff as well as Capitol Police are terrific people).  I continue to pray for the victims, especially Christine's four children who are now orphans and had to be placed in protective DFS custody.  It is extremely difficult to think about the trauma that these children face due to their criminal father and his family members.

Special prayers also for Tim Hitchings, who was a target (Dad's family wanted to kill him because he did an excellent job representing Christine Belford).  Although I haven't worked much with Tim, the few experiences I have had with him have been extremely positive.  He exemplifies professionalism, compassion, and a keen legal mind.

As for continuing my work with victims of domestic violence by volunteering with Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, there is no way I will stop.  This was an isolated incident by one crazy family.

St. Andrew's Choir Party

Thank you to Marguerite for opening her home for a Christmas party gathering.  Unlike our last party, I remembered the camera this time!

Choir Members - feel free to save photos right from this blog or email me for higher quality photos.

March 2010 NRCC Dinner

Oh my gosh - an incredible day (and even better that I was with my family, who I don't get to often see)! I arrived in a DC in the morning and beat my family to the hotel (not like me to arrive first!!).

The Willard was beautiful.

The day started with a lunch at a nearby hotel and Sean Hannity made a quick appearance!

Next, my father, Renee, and I attended a session on the healthcare. Interesting to hear about how terrible Obama care is going to be! Obama is going to ruin this country. I can't wait until the next election. Anyone who believes that Obamacare is going to be good is just wrong. Sorry, but our government lied to us about the fact that it was a cost-saving bill and they also lied when said that rationing wouldn't happen. It will be interesting to see Obama supporters yelling when care is rationed on their family members.

Now, onto a fabulous dinner! The pictures speak for themselves!

Then we headed to the Hard Rock for the after party - which was equally as fun, however, I was pretty tired at that point after getting up to drive to DC that morning at 6AM.

Girlfriend Time and Lincoln Day Dinner (Kent County)

During January, Mary, Danielle, Ellie, and I got together to watch some pageant videos on a Saturday.  It is always so much fun to hang out with girlfriends!

Also during January, I was honored to be asked to sing at the Kent County Lincoln Day Dinner.

Rudy visits Delaware

And I got to sing the National Anthem at the dinner where Rudy was awarded the Pete DuPont Individual Freedom Award!

For anyone who is curious, Soon to be Hubby and I are FULLY SUPPORTING the idea that Rudy is the Republican's BEST CHANCE at winning in 2008! This guy is a fantastic speaker - and so equolently explained many issues (I won't go into a political discussion about Iraq or immigration), but I was particularly happy when Rudy spoke about school vouchers. The best way to get a hand up is to get your kid a good education. You can't do that if your local public school isn't doing their job and you, as a parent, cannot afford a private school. While Rudy was Mayor, some good citizens of NYC got together and promised to give 2500 public school students a chance to go to private school on full scholarships. 167,000 applications were turned in for these 2500 spots. Seems to me that those numbers alone prove that there are 167,000 parents in NYC that want something better for their kids than what the public schools are offering.

I only took at few photos at the event, so I had Soon to be Hubby do a quick snap shot of me upon returning home.
